The SOIB Jove Program: Qualified – Local Entities 2024 has provided a job opportunity for 13 young people to work at the Ajuntament de Palma. The program, managed by PalmaActiva within the framework of the SOIB, aims to promote the hiring of young individuals to improve their employability.
On June 27, 2025, the Ajuntament de Palma-PalmaActiva held the closing ceremony of the SOIB Jove Program: Qualified – Local Entities 2024, which allowed 13 young individuals to work in various departments of the city council over the past 12 months. This employment insertion initiative, supported by the SOIB and managed by PalmaActiva, seeks to enhance the employability of young individuals with university degrees, vocational training, or level 3 professional certificates by offering them a qualified work experience within the public administration sector, facilitating their integration into the job market.
During their participation, the young individuals carried out professional tasks related to their academic background, holding positions such as:
• Quality technician
• IT technician
• Culture technician
• Commercial dynamizer in schools
• Legal advisor
• Business administration and management technician (ADE)
• Protocol technician
• IT engineer
• Journalist
The closing event, held at the Ajuntament’s council chamber, was attended by the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés; the Councilor for Commerce, Restoration, and Self-Employment, Lupe Ferrer; and the Autonomous Secretary of Labor, Occupation, and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer. They acknowledged the work done by the young participants, thanked them for their dedication, and wished them success in their professional paths.
Mayor Jaime Martínez Llabrés emphasized, «As Mayor, it has been an honor for the city council to share the past 12 months with you. Today, we recognize your work, which will open up new professional opportunities for you.» He also congratulated the young individuals «for their commitment and value contributed to the Ajuntament during this time.»
The project had an initial budget of €615,998.56, with €441,967.55 contributed by the SOIB and €174,031.01 by PalmaActiva. This initiative is funded by the SEPE through the Sectoral Conference on Employment and Labor Affairs.
