Belén Soto visits the progress of the pavement improvement and accessibility works on Fra Juníber Serra Street
The governor was accompanied by the area coordinator, Juanjo Lemm, and representatives from the Armadans neighborhood.
Palma, February 6, 2025.
During the visit, the general coordinator of infrastructure and accessibility, Juanjo Lemm, as well as representatives from the Sonans Association, came to learn about the initial stages of the project.
It should be noted that the works, awarded in December of last year for a total amount of 350,430 euros, including VAT, began in January and have a maximum duration of three months.
These works also address a longstanding request from the neighborhood, as they allow for the removal of urban barriers from the sidewalks in the area, in addition to enhancing the sidewalks and improving the neighborhood’s aesthetics. In total, over 2,300 square meters of sidewalk and 313 linear meters will be improved.
Furthermore, the parks and gardens service will continue, once the roadwork is completed, to address about a dozen spots that currently pose a certain risk due to being excessively steep.
To achieve this, the road will extend the sidewalks by about 50 to 60 centimeters, creating up to 33 new tree pits and replacing the entire sidewalk. This extension will also leave a gap between the sidewalk and the road of about two meters, allowing for the planting of small «Photinia Red Robin» trees.
