Jaime Martínez Llabrés participates in the meeting that the FEMP has held with Isabel Rodríguez to address the work lines being developed in the field of housing.
Palma, February 25, 2025.- The Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés, participated this morning in the meeting held by the Government Board of the FEMP with the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, and other officials from her department. During the meeting, progress in the work lines undertaken by the federation in the field of housing was explained, including tourist housing and administrative simplification for construction, as well as the call for effective measures to ensure access to housing and more resources for municipalities.
Among the issues discussed with the minister is the protocol being developed by the FEMP, which will include recommendations and best practices in administrative simplification for construction, starting from the availability of suitable land for this purpose. In this regard, meetings have been held with representatives from professional associations, architects, technical architects, civil engineers, industrial engineers, technical industrial engineers, property managers, registrars, and municipal technicians, among others.
It is worth mentioning that the Ajuntament de Palma has already implemented measures in this regard, such as the creation of an urban impact viewer to streamline the processing of licenses, or the elimination of the appointment system. Similarly, a shock plan has been launched for the construction of 2,000 housing units on municipal land through public-private collaboration, intended for limited-price rentals, as well as the creation of the Comprehensive Housing and Anti-squatting Office.
Martínez Llabrés emphasizes the key role of municipalities in housing management and the importance of promoting public-private collaboration to increase supply, as the City Council is already doing, as well as the need for appropriate tools to ensure effective solutions in this area.
