Clausura del programa de ejercicio físico Activa’t en Germans Escalas

Germans Escalas has hosted the closing of the Activa’t physical exercise program, which in this edition has had the participation of 277 elderly people.

The deputy mayor Llorenç Bauzá de Keizer has presided over the event highlighting the commitment of the Government team to the elderly and has announced the expansion of the program to new areas for the upcoming year.

Palma, June 17, 2025.- The deputy mayor and councilor of Natural Environment, Healthy Spaces, Markets, and Innovation, Llorenç Bauzá de Keizer, closed this Tuesday the ‘Activa’t’ physical exercise program, promoted by the City Council of Palma through the Health and Consumption area, with the main objective of promoting active aging and strengthening the emotional well-being of people over 60 years of age.

In total, the Activa’t program has had the participation of 277 people in up to 585 group sessions in the eight areas of Palma where it is currently being carried out during the 2024-2025 academic year.

The closing ceremony took place at Germans Escalas and was attended by the Elderly Councilor, Luisa Marqués; the General Director of Health, María del Carmen Esparza; and the General Director of Sports, David Salom, who awarded diplomas to the most regular participants.

Subsequently, a demonstration of a physical exercise masterclass directed by the monitors was carried out.

Activa’t is developed in collaboration with health and social service centers, as well as neighborhood entities and associations of elderly people, and the sessions take place twice a week, from Monday to Thursday, outdoors or in municipal spaces.

Specifically, the areas where the program is currently being carried out are Son Pizà – Son Dameto, Pere Garau, Arquitecte Bennàssar – Plaza de Toros, Es Viver – Es Rafal, Coll d’en Rabassa – El Molinar, Son Gotleu, Sant Agustí – Cala Major, and Camp Redó – Cas Capiscol.

During his speech, Bauzá de Keizer congratulated all the participants and announced the expansion of the program for the 2026 academic year to cover all the basic health areas of Palma.

The expansion will take place in two phases: between January and March, it will reach six new areas: Platja de Palma, Valldargent, Emili Darder, Son Ferriol, Son Cladera, and Casa del Mar, and starting in October, Son Rutlan, Son Serra, S’Escorxador, Escola Graduada, and Santa Catalina will be incorporated.

With this expansion, the program will go from 8 areas to 18, achieving almost complete coverage of the municipality.

Furthermore, the deputy mayor highlighted the Government team’s commitment to the elderly, reflected in the creation of a specific council for this group, which actively works to promote initiatives aimed at combating unwanted loneliness and fostering social participation.

In the same vein, the Elderly Councilor, Luisa Marqués, emphasized the importance of promoting active aging and mentioned the opening of the Elderly Office at Centre Flassaders, which provides a personalized service without prior appointment for processing, management, and information on available activities and resources.

It is worth noting that, according to the latest satisfaction surveys, 81% of participants rate the program with a score of 9 or 10, 97% would recommend it, and 85% claim to have improved their health, mood, and personal satisfaction.
