Bauzá de Keizer lidera Comisión de Trabajo del Ciclo Climático.

The Mayor of Natural Environment, Healthy Environments, Markets, and Innovation of the City Council of Palma, Llorenç Bauzá de Keizer, chaired the constitution of the Climate Cycle Working Commission on Friday. This body brings together representatives from the government team, municipal groups, technicians, and entities with the aim of discussing and promoting measures that favor environmental balance.

According to a press release, the City Council of Palma reported that Bauzá de Keizer chaired the constitutive session of the Climate Cycle Working Commission on Friday, which held its first ordinary meeting.

This body was formed at the request of the City Council of Palma with the aim of addressing issues related to the climate cycle, a term that refers to the changes experienced globally in temperatures and weather patterns, which persist over time sustainably.

Now, the City Council has taken on the responsibility of providing a greater boost to the debate on this phenomenon and its current effects, through the creation of this commission, made up of representatives of the government team and the different municipal groups, as well as technicians and spokespeople from various entities and organizations such as the University of the Balearic Islands, the Marilles Foundation, the Palma XXI association, the neighborhood federations of Palma, the GOB, Friends of the Earth, or the College of Physicians.

During this first meeting, the commission members outlined the key lines of operation of this body, as well as reaching a consensus on the general objectives that should guide their work.

In this way, the commission will hold four ordinary meetings a year, although extraordinary meetings can be held if determined by its coordinators or requested by a third of the members.

Among the functions that will be promoted are the encouragement of emission mitigation policies and the adaptation of the municipality to the climate cycle, the coordination of actions carried out by the City Council of Palma in this area, the monitoring of measures aimed at ensuring environmental, economic, and social balance, and the issuance of reports on municipal policies and plans related to the climate.

Likewise, the commission will seek to enhance collaboration with scientific and social entities, as well as the private sector, and to promote awareness and training messages directly aimed at the public.

Another aspect of its work will involve the need to reach cooperation agreements with other cities in order to make joint decisions and set common goals related to the climate cycle.
