The confrontation between two groups of ‘lateros’ left several injured, with two of them requiring hospitalization.
The Local Police arrested five men of Bulgarian nationality on the night of Wednesday, July 9, for their alleged involvement in a mass brawl between street vendors on Playa de Palma, where six people were injured.
According to a press release, the incident took place on Arenal Road and Pare Bartomeu Salvà Street in Playa de Palma.
The intervention began around 10:40 p.m. when four officers assigned to the Setur 2025 operation were approached by a group of Indian street vendors. They reported being attacked by another group of Bulgarian nationality over a dispute regarding sales areas.
The officers noticed that one of the complainants had bleeding cuts on their forehead, right cheekbone, and arm, prompting a call for an ambulance from 061.
While attending to the injured, the officers heard shouts on Pare Bartomeu Salvà Street. Upon arrival, they found the five suspects beating two of the complainants who were on the ground.
Upon realizing the police presence, the aggressors attempted to flee but were apprehended.
Two victims of the second assault had bleeding facial injuries and were taken to Son Llàtzer Hospital for medical evaluation.
The officers arrested the five attackers, who were then taken to police custody.
The Local Police’s Accident Investigation Unit in Palma initiated the corresponding report, and after initial procedures, the detainees were transferred to the National Police.
