Cort contribuye a la Nit de l’Art con exposiciones en Palma

Cort contributes to the new edition of the Nit de l’Art with proposals linked to the ‘Paysage Miró’ project and other exhibitions planned at the Fundació Miró Mallorca, Casal Solleric, and Espai Cor.

The mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés, attended the presentation of the city’s art galleries’ flagship event, which will take place on Saturday, September 20, from 6 pm to 11 pm, organized by Art Palma Contemporani.

Palma, July 16, 2025. The mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés, attended the presentation of the 29th edition of the Nit de l’Art, scheduled for Saturday, September 20, from 6 pm to 11 pm, under the organization of the association Art Palma Contemporani.

During the informative meeting held at the La Bibi + Reus City gallery, also present were Palma City Council’s first deputy mayor and culture councilor, Javier Bonet, and the general coordinator of Culture and Tourism, Fernando Gómez de la Cuesta.

Also in attendance were the Vice President of the Mallorca Council and Culture and Heritage councilor, Antònia Roca, and the regional secretary of Culture and Sports, Pedro Vidal, along with a broad representation of the cultural and gallery sector, led by the president of the organizing entity, Fran Reus.

In his remarks, the mayor emphasized «the prominence that Palma is gaining as a major international capital of art and culture, in a moment of creative effervescence» which Martínez Llabrés hopes will be «fully confirmed» with Palma’s selection as the European Capital of Culture for the year 2031.

According to Cort’s first councilor, the projection achieved by the Nit de l’Art in its successive editions has played a significant role in Palma’s journey to becoming a cultural reference point, earning its rightful place as a pivotal event in the exhibition programming.

For this edition, Palma City Council strengthens the roadmap of the Nit de l’Art with «a select and carefully curated program» that, as the mayor explained, «is marked by the launch of one of the most significant cultural events in recent Palma history,» referring to the inauguration of the ‘Paysage Miró’ exhibition.

In the opinion of Martínez Llabrés, this cultural event, recently presented at the Consolat de Mar in an informative event chaired by the President of the Government, Marga Prohens, «marks a turning point in Palma’s evolution as a cultural capital,» as it is the most important exhibition of Joan Miró’s work carried out in the Balearic Islands to date.

The project is the result of collaboration between the Government, Palma City Council, the Reina Sofía National Museum Center for Contemporary Art, and the city’s main museum spaces within the contemporary art field, all with the support of Successió Miró and Galeria Pelaires.

In the case of Palma’s municipal spaces, the Fundació Miró Mallorca and Casal Solleric contribute the proposals ‘La guspira màgica’ and ‘El color i la seva ombra’, which will be integrated into this year’s Nit de l’Art proposal.

‘La guspira màgica’, which can be visited at the Fundació from August 1 to January 11, 2026, reveals Miró’s interior and creative landscape through a journey that focuses on the personal and artistic relationships that nourished his visual universe.

The exhibition combines plastic works, documentary material, and personal objects with the aim of constructing an intimate and collective narrative of Miró’s process from a relational and poetic perspective.

On the other hand, ‘El color i la seva ombra’, which will open its doors at the Casal Solleric from August 2 to November 9, proposes a non-linear journey through Miró’s plastic universe, prioritizing the dialogue between the artist’s painting and sculpture.

In this way, through a selection of 40 pieces, the exhibition includes bronze sculptures, paintings, and works on paper, delving into the unique language that Miró developed during his extensive creative journey.

Beyond ‘Paysage Miró’, the program of the Fundació Miró Mallorca coinciding with the 2025 Nit de l’Art includes three proposals that will occupy various spaces of the center between September 19 and March 23 of the following year.

On one hand, the Espai Cúbic will host the exhibition ‘Grip Face. Utopía del lodo, Sashimi de Bruma’, an installation that invites reflection on the current war context affecting various regions of the world, consisting of 12 sculptures arranged to reproduce the symbol of Europe.

On the other hand, the Espai Zero will showcase the exhibition of Stella Rahola Matutes ‘La biblioteca’, created from installation and sculptural pieces addressing the crucial challenge of reusing residual materials. The exhibition consists of 2,000 glass pieces that the artist has collected.

Finally, at the Auditorium of the Fundació Miró Mallorca, the project ‘La màscara habitada’, by Mabi Revuelta, will be presented, materializing in a film shot in the Son Boter studio, owned by Joan Miró.

The exhibition focuses on exploring the most fascinating elements of the creative process of this film work and is the result of research carried out in the Foundation’s archives, delving into the materials and objects that are part of the Son Boter universe.

The mayor of Palma recalled that this historic property will undergo a restoration project by the City Council to «preserve Miró’s immense legacy,» as the artist used Son Boter as one of his workshops since its acquisition.

At the same time, in addition to the upcoming major Miró exhibition, Casal Solleric will open during the Nit de l’Art the ‘site-specific’ proposal for the Aljub space by the Asturian artist Pelayo Varela.

The exhibition is curated by the renowned creator and curator Avelino Sala and will coexist with the collective thesis exhibition ‘Ultrafotografia,’ currently on display at this iconic cultural center in Palma.

Finally, the first councilor highlighted the proposal planned at Espai Cor, the new center created to enrich Palma’s exhibition programming and located in the City Council’s premises.

Espai Cor will participate for the first time in the Nit de l’Art with a large ceramic installation by Margalida Escalas, an artist who has been working with clay since 1975, presenting her work not only on our island but also in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Zurich, and Albino, in the Italian Lombardy.

Margalida Escalas is also the author of the piece created in tribute to the late Víctor Uris, called ‘Blues Banc,’ initiated by the neighborhood association where this Palma musician lived, in the area of the old Capitol. The inauguration will take place shortly.
