The Palma Local Police arrested a 27-year-old Colombian man on Wednesday, June 4, for allegedly assaulting law enforcement officers and making threats. This occurred after he attacked an officer with a bottle following threats to the staff of a nightclub in Playa de Palma.
In a press release, the Local Police reported the arrest of the man for the alleged offenses of assaulting law enforcement officers and making threats. The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday, June 4, on Playa de Palma, when the individual attempted to assault a police officer with a bottle after threatening the staff of an entertainment establishment.
The events unfolded around 2:00 am when a patrol from the Comprehensive Security Unit (USEI) was called to a location on Cartago Street. A group of intoxicated individuals tried to enter the establishment. When denied entry, one of them began to verbally abuse the security personnel and make death threats.
The officers identified the individual making the threats as a 27-year-old Colombian man and urged the group to leave due to their intoxicated state and the access prohibition. Despite initial resistance and insults towards the officers, they eventually left.
While the officers were informing the victim about the procedure to report the incident, the previously identified individual returned and attempted to strike one of the officers with a hidden bottle. The officer reacted and managed to deflect the attack, causing the bottle to fall to the ground.
The assailant fled and a chase ensued along the beach. After running about 800 meters, the man stopped and confronted the officers, who arrested him for the alleged offenses of assaulting law enforcement officers and making threats.
The arrested individual was taken to police facilities, and once the necessary procedures were completed by the Accident Investigation Unit, he was brought before the court.
