El Govern, Consell y Sant Josep acuerdan priorizar vías legales para retorno a Don Pepe

The Balearic Government, the Ibiza Council, and the Sant Josep City Council have agreed to prioritize the study of all legal avenues to facilitate the return of the residents of the Don Pepe apartments to these buildings and thus fulfill, with legal guarantees, the wishes of the affected families.

According to the Ministry of Housing, Territory, and Mobility, the Monitoring Commission for the housing solution of the Don Pepe apartment residents met this Wednesday.

During the meeting, the three institutions committed to continue working through technical and legal collaboration to facilitate the possibility proposed by the City Council to reverse the declaration of ruin of Building A adopted by the previous municipal government and to have the maximum information and documentation on the licensing procedures.

In this regard, residents were informed that the technical commission will present a compilation of legal and technical information being gathered on the legality of the buildings, an investigative and analytical work on the legal framework applicable at the time of construction of the properties. It was also explained that the document will be discussed at the next Monitoring Commission meeting scheduled for April 3.

In parallel, without ruling out the option of relocating families to other newly constructed homes, the Government recalled that work continues to fulfill the commitments of the general action protocol signed in the last term. The Government reported that contracts have already been awarded for the new economic assessment of the Don Pepe apartment units and the environmental surroundings where the buildings are located.
