Palma, June 24, 2025. The deputy mayor and councilor of Medi Natural, Entorns Saludables, Mercats i Innovació, and president of Emaya, Llorenç Bauzá de Keizer, presented the new vehicles acquired by the municipal company on Tuesday with the aim of renewing a large part of the fleet for the Cicle de l’Aigua department.
During the informative meeting held at the Son Pacs premises, the Emaya manager, Lorenzo Morey, and the director of Energia i Mobilitat, Carlos Burguera, were also present.
The councilor indicated during his speech that the fleet showed «clear signs of obsolescence due to its age,» a circumstance that made it necessary to proceed with its renewal «to provide citizens with a more operational, efficient, and sustainable service that benefits the quality of the services received by Emaya users.»
Specifically, the renewal operation included five trucks of 3.5 tons with open boxes; two trucks of 12 tons with tipper and crane; one 18-ton truck with tipper and crane, and 10 electric vans.
The total investment, excluding VAT, exceeded one million euros, specifically amounting to 1,029,690 euros.
Thus, the trucks with open boxes have a unit cost of 43,498 euros, reaching a total of 217,490.00. They replace a part of the current fleet, which has an average age of 19.8 years, and will be assigned to the Supply and Sanitation services.
In this case, the contract also includes the future incorporation of three heavy trucks with cranes of different tonnages.
On the other hand, the 12-ton trucks with cranes represented an investment of 157,500 euros per vehicle, with a total sum of 315,000 euros.
Their addition will partially replace the current fleet, which has an age exceeding 20 years. The trucks will be assigned to the BOR (Network Operators Brigades) and Sewerage services.
Regarding the 18-ton truck with a crane, it cost 199,700 euros, allowing for the renewal of a contingent of vehicles that are over 20 years old. Its destination will be the Sack Collection department.
Finally, in the case of the electric vans, the investment per unit amounted to 29,750 euros, resulting in a total amount of 297,500 euros.
The current fleet, which will be partially replaced by these new vans, has an age exceeding 17 years. These vehicles will be assigned to various departments of Emaya: specifically, Networks, Maintenance, Operation, and Purification.
