Exposición «Estado» por el artista griego de Cruz

Ángela de Cruz, the National Fine Arts Award winner and finalist for the Turner Prize, presents an exhibition of her works grouped under the title "Stick" at Casal Solleric. The exhibition, which will open this Friday, showcases pieces from both public and private collections and will be open for viewing until April 22nd at Noble Plant.

On January 30, 2025, Casal Solelic hosted the presentation of the "Stuck" exhibition by Ángela de Cruz, a Galician artist based in London, who won the National Fine Arts Award in 2017 and was a finalist for the Turner Prize in 2010. The exhibition, curated by Fernando Gómez de Cuesta and Iñaki Martínez Antelo, will be officially inaugurated tomorrow, Friday, at 7:00 p.m.

The artist participated in the presentation, accompanied by the two commissioners of the exhibition project. According to Gómez de Cuesta, this exhibition marks a new milestone in Palma’s pursuit of cultural and artistic excellence. The general coordinator of culture and tourism in Palma praised Ángela de Cruz’s career and considered it an honor for the city that such a prestigious artist agreed to share her work with residents and visitors of the Balearic Islands capital.

Known for her innovative, experimental, and precise spirit, Ángela de Cruz (born in A Coruña in 1965) has gathered a complete set of valuable pieces from various public and private collections under the title "Stick". The exhibition at Casal Solleric contributes to the emergence of a complete genealogy of artists who follow the paths opened by Cruz.

Her work, as described in the exhibition’s accompanying sheet, not only leaves a lasting impact that influences many contemporary artists but also holds a significant presence in some of the world’s finest art collections. "Stick" serves as a true statement of what visitors can expect when entering the unique spaces of Casal Solleric: Cruz’s works push the boundaries of painting, transcending convention to become objects, sculptures, installations, and expressions of friction, blockage, and confrontation.

Ángela de Cruz’s creative journey began in the late 80s and continued through her studies at Goldsmiths College and Slade School of Art. Her influence on the art world has only grown, particularly after the success of her 2010 exhibition "After" at the Camden Arts Center in London. That same year, Cruz was nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize, and seven years later, she was awarded the National Fine Arts Prize.
