Both he and his companion are being investigated for alleged misappropriation
The Local Police are investigating a driver without a license as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety in Palma.
In a press release, the Local Police reported that, around 12:30 p.m. last Monday, June 9, agents from the Setur 2025 device proceeded to identify the occupants of a car on Trasimè Street in Palma.
The patrol observed the vehicle, occupied by a couple, stopped in the middle of a traffic lane with the engine running. For this reason, they asked the driver to park in a safe place to avoid obstructing traffic.
When the agents asked the driver for his documentation, he stated that he had never obtained a driver’s license in Spain and added that his Bulgarian license was stolen years ago, a fact he could not document.
Due to the nervous attitude of both occupants, a search of the car was conducted. During the inspection, a package containing a white substance was found in the glove compartment. The driver confirmed that it was cocaine for personal use, and the agents seized it.
Two mobile phones were also found, along with several empty bags, wallets, and phone cases. When asked about the origin of the phones, the car’s occupants claimed to have found them on the beach and could not justify a legal source, so they were confiscated.
Based on all the above, the patrol informed the man of his status as a non-arrested suspect for a crime against road safety and both of them as non-arrested suspects for an alleged minor crime of misappropriation, informing them of their obligation to appear before the judicial authority when required.
The Traffic Accident Unit of the Local Police prepared the corresponding judicial report. Meanwhile, the Investigation and Complaint Monitoring Group (GISD) is conducting investigations to determine if the phones, valued at 230 and 260 euros, are reported as stolen or lost, to subsequently report to the competent investigating judge.
The vehicle in which the suspects were traveling was towed by the municipal crane service and taken to the impound lot for not having mandatory insurance, an administrative offense that was reported.
