La Comissió de Govern aprueba la restauración de Son Boter

The Governing Commission of the Fundació Miró Mallorca approves the tender for the restoration works of Son Boter

In a meeting held on Wednesday, the Governing Commission of the Fundació Miró Mallorca approved the technical and administrative specifications that will govern the tender for the restoration works of the Son Boter building, owned by the Foundation.

The tender will have a maximum budget of just over one million euros (specifically, 1,007,342.12 euros), with a 16-month execution period starting from the formalization of the Survey Act.

Funding for this project will come from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) fund of the Balearic Islands.

The announcement for the tender will be published on April 22, and candidates will have 21 days to submit their proposals, with the deadline set for May 22.

Javier Bonet, the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture, described this decision as a «historic milestone,» fulfilling a long-standing demand and being financed through the ITS funds.

According to Bonet, initiatives like this one «help Palma progress towards excellence as a privileged hub for art and creative talent,» enhancing the city’s chances of becoming the Cultural Capital in 2031.

The Foundation’s Director, Antònia Maria Perelló, emphasized the importance of preserving the unique charcoal graffiti by Miró at Son Boter, ensuring their conservation for future generations.

Son Boter, a property dating back to the 18th century and declared a Cultural Heritage Site, was acquired by Miró in 1959 and became his second studio. Miró created numerous charcoal graffiti on the walls related to his sculptures.

The main objective of the intervention is the rehabilitation of the building, including the restoration of Miró’s graffiti on the walls of the two floors of the Son Boter property.
