MÉS per Mallorca has proposed investing an additional 86 million euros in public transportation through amendments presented to the 2025 budget law.
In a press release, MÉS per Mallorca stated that they have submitted twenty amendments to the 2025 budget law, proposing to invest an extra 86 million euros to improve public transportation and sustainable mobility.
The ecosovereignist party demands more resources for buses and trains, additional staff for the Servei Ferroviari de Mallorca (SFM), and extending public transportation until midnight on weekdays and weekends, as well as developing the railway network, including expansions to Migjorn, Llevant, and Alcúdia.
«We aim to make public transportation a real alternative to private vehicles with increased resources for buses and trains and the enhancement and expansion of services,» stated MÉS per Mallorca’s deputy, Ferran Rosa.
«The budget of the Ministry of Housing, Territory, and Mobility for the year 2025 is significantly insufficient to address the challenges we face as a society, such as public transportation, and therefore will hinder our ability to respond,» Rosa lamented.
Thus, in pursuit of improving public transportation, MÉS per Mallorca has proposed amendments to the 2025 budget law, including expanding concessions for the Consorcio de Transportes de Mallorca (with 10 million euros), extending intercity bus services until midnight on weekdays and weekends (25 million euros), providing technical support for the Alcúdia (200,000 euros) and Llevant (400,000 euros) train projects, drafting the basic extension project for the Sa Pobla to Alcúdia line (200,000 euros), drafting the basic extension project for the Manacor to Artà line (400,000 euros), and drafting the Migjorn line and section I: Palma – Llucmajor (600,000 euros).
Additionally, proposals include expanding train services until midnight on weekdays and weekends (1.5 million euros), introducing new services for the Servei Ferroviari de Mallorca (with two million euros), hiring more SFM personnel (two million euros), and providing free train, metro, and intercity road transportation (with 16 million euros), among others.
