The Son Sant Joan airport in Palma operated with a single runway for about 40 minutes this Saturday due to a fuel spill from an aircraft on the other runway of the aerodrome.
According to air traffic controllers in a message posted on ‘X’, confirmed by Aena, Palma airport operated for 40 minutes with a single runway (24L) due to the fuel spill from an aircraft on the other runway (24R).
The contamination from hydraulic system liquids of an aircraft on runway 24R was detected around 13:00 hours and may have caused some delays for safety reasons, as per safety protocol, the runway must be cleaned.
Finally, after cleaning the runway affected by the fuel spill, operations returned to normal in Palma, with Runway 24L for landings and 24R for takeoffs.
