Palma, May 11, 2025 – The councilor of Gent Gran and Interculturality, Luisa Marqués, accompanied by the general director of the area, Angels Dueñas, attended the end-of-course day of the Gent Gran activities.
The event is organized by the Ajuntament in collaboration with the Federation of Associations of Older People of Palma, and has brought together about 800 people at the Germans Escales sports center.
It is worth mentioning that, after eight years without being held, the Ajuntament recovered this event last year, in which different associations and clubs of the elderly carry out a demonstration of the activities they carry out throughout the course.
The day started at 8:00 a.m., with the reception of the councilor, who highlighted the great participation in the event.
During her speech, Marqués highlighted the work of the Ajuntament in supporting the Gent Gran collective, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a «relationship of proximity and reciprocal communication,» and pointing out the relevance of «an intergenerational act that connects grandparents with their grandchildren and family members.»
In this regard, she recalled the establishment of the Gent Gran office, and the creation of this council to provide comprehensive support to the elderly, as well as to promote their participation in society.
The day continued until 1:00 p.m. with a series of activity demonstrations, such as gymnastics, pilates, tai-chi, yoga, Sevillanas dance, line dancing, ballroom dancing, and ball de bot. Subsequently, starting at 4:00 p.m., a line dance took place as a final touch.
