Salvamento Marítimo has rescued by helicopter seven Maghrebi people who required medical assistance, one due to illness and the other six with symptoms of dehydration, who were located on a boat 24 miles southwest of Cabrera where eleven other people were traveling.
The rescue of these seven individuals took place at 20:50 on Saturday and they were transferred to Son Sant Joan Airport in Palma de Mallorca. The intervention also involved the Fiscal and Borders Unit of Palma Airport.
Just a few hours later, a Salvamento Marítimo boat rescued the other eleven occupants, also of Maghrebi origin, at 22:28 on Saturday, as reported by the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands.
Throughout Saturday, two other rescues of migrant individuals in the Balearic Islands took place. The first intervention was at 8:43 in Cabrera after the arrival of 26 Sub-Saharan migrants on a dinghy, and another 22 were rescued from a boat 86 miles south of Mallorca at 16:42.
