Rescate de turista en playa de Magaluf por Guardia Civil tras ingesta de alcohol y drogas

Guardia Civil officers saved the life of a tourist who had jumped into the sea at Magaluf beach, in the municipality of Calvià, Mallorca, after consuming high amounts of alcohol and drugs on Monday, May 19.

In a press release, the Guardia Civil reported that officers from the Calvià station received a call from the COS central informing them that a man had jumped into the sea after consuming drugs and alcohol and was unable to return to the shore.

Upon arrival, a patrol from the Calvià Local Police was already at the scene. They had observed with binoculars that the man had taken refuge on Sa Porrassa Island and was requesting help from there. At one point, he had jumped back into the sea and was struggling to swim, putting his physical integrity at serious risk.

Immediately, one of the Guardia Civil officers went to fetch a float from a nearby hotel while the other used a flashlight to signal the tourist’s location.

Quickly, the officer who had retrieved the float removed his uniform and entered the sea, heading towards the person in distress, guided by his cries for help, while the other officer continued to shine the flashlight in that direction.

After five minutes, he managed to reach the tourist, who was in a state of distress with signs of panic and hypothermia. After several attempts, the Guardia Civil officer managed to secure the float around the man’s body and towed him back to shore.

Once on shore, the officer placed the man on a beach lounger awaiting the arrival of medical services. His behavior was erratic, alternating between episodes of euphoria and crying with a vacant stare. Upon initial examination, the officers noted a strong smell of alcohol, indicating possible intoxication from some type of narcotic substance.

Subsequently, the rescued individual began shouting at the officers and several people present, displaying a very aggressive attitude, leading to his eventual restraint and arrest by the Calvià Local Police.
